Take me out to the ball game...

Last week we took Andrew to his first baseball game!  The Indians were playing the Toronto Mud Hens and the museum bought the staff tickets, so we decided to make a family night of it.

I was a bit skeptical going with Andrew because he is in a very independent phase right now.  He does not like to hold hands and would rather run off somewhere than sit still.  When we got there, he saw our friend Brandi and her family.  Her son Jackson had a mascot bear and Andrew went over there to snatch it from his hands.  When we gave Jackson his bear back, Andrew threw the biggest tantrum which required me to buy the mascot bear to calm him down.  (We'll just add that bear to the other hundreds of toys he has that he will forget to play with.)

In any case, my fears came true...Andrew acted like he had ants in his pants because he did not want to sit still in one place.  It took a bribery of food and then sheer exhaustion before he calmed down (about 1.5 hours after the game started).  He mellowed out a lot when we were getting close to his bedtime, but then he suddenly found his second wind.  These pictures were taken at about 10:30 pm.

Andrew clapped with the crowd.

We did eventually have a good time and we hope that the next time we take Andrew to a game he'll be a little better behaved.
