It's party time!

Andrew's first birthday is quickly approaching!  In just two short weeks, our little monkey will be turning 1!  How time flies by...

We will be flying back to Oklahoma for Easter and will be fortunate enough to celebrate Andrew's birthday with his whole extended family!  We will not be having a birthday party here in Indiana because it is hard with Dustin's less than typical work schedule, but I don't think Andrew will know any different.

Below is the invitation for his party that I will be mailing out this week.  Super cute and can't wait to celebrate Andrew's big day!

Who needs a bottle?

For a few months now, we have been working with Andrew to get him used to using a sippy cup.  We have tried three different brands and the last one seemed to be working.

The last couple of weeks, I have been using my gigantic hospital cup with straw as a container for my water during my workouts.  Well, Andrew is obsessed with anything that he is not supposed to have and has been sucking on the end of the straw.  I didn't think he would be able to get any water out, but I was once again proven wrong by my son that he is fully capable of doing whatever he sets his mind to.  Not only did he suck out water, but he really enjoyed it (and back washed into my water)!

So, during my last errand run, I decided to buy him his own set of straw sippy cups and see what would happen.  With these cups you have to suck a little harder because there is a spill proof valve and I wasn't sure if he was able to do it, but like I said, this baby keeps proving me wrong.  Andrew sat there fascinated with his new cup and used his straw like a champ!  Before I knew it...he had actually drank all of his water!  He never even did that with his regular sippy cup.  All I have to say is, success!  Bottle?  Who needs a stinkin' bottle?

Too cool for school!

We found the cutest hat for Andrew to wear at Baby Gap.  We had been looking for one like this for awhile and since Easter is quickly approaching, it has been very easy locating one.

Surprisingly, Andrew wore this hat for like 15 minutes.  He normally pulls any thing that covers his head and throws it to the floor.  This must have been a sign that he was meant to have this hat!

Unfortunately, when I put on his shirt that I bought him and wanted him to model it for me, he decided to show me that he was not pleased with my motives.  Daddy was not sympathetic and decided to mock Andrew at the same time.  :)

Luck o' the Irish!

Andrew was ready and dressed in green for his first St. Patrick's Day!  Although, he only has a small fraction of Irish blood running through his veins, it was enough to allow him to wear his pj's that state, "Kiss me, I'm Irish!"

I'm sure if he was around any family members, they would have kissed him enough to last him until next St. Patrick's Day!

Eleven months already?

I can't believe this little stinker is already 11 months old!  How can this baby be approaching toddler-hood?  Time has definitely flown by and it has been amazing to see this little beast become his own little person.

This past month, Andrew has really let his personality shine!  He still wakes up one (sometimes two) times at night, but knows that his bedtime is at 9 pm and goes to bed without a fuss.  When he wakes up, it is baby talk time for about 30 minutes before mommy decides morning has broken and gets him from the prison that is his crib.

Andrew is still crawling and crusing.  He hasn't walked by himself, per se, but does hang on to the couch or coffee table for balance while he walks around the living room.  I thought he would be walking unassisted by now, but that's okay because this house is not remotely baby proofed.

New foods this past month:

Andrew is still partial to his orange foods - squash and sweet potatoes, but I am able to mix it with other vegetables and he wil eat it like broccoli, peas and now cauliflower!  I introduced him to macaroni and cheese and as you can see by the pictures above, this baby LOVES it!  He also loves fruit and will eat bite sized pieces of them - apples, pears, blueberries, cantaloupe, grapes, etc.  I did find out that kiwi makes his butt break out, so that is crossed off the list.

Andrew loves to eat big boy food.  He watches us when we eat dinner and does pretty well eating bite-sized pieces of food off of our plates.  I don't give him too much meat, but if turkey or chicken is available, I give it to him even though he doesn't eat too much of it.  He enjoys eating crackers and vanilla cookies and if you aren't careful will stuff three or four of them in his mouth like a chipmunk.

Next stop...the big 0-1!

Yoga Pt. 2

Here we go with the toes again!  I'm not sure if he's doing a sun salutation or a downward dog, but this baby is flexible!
