Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

We had to take advantage of my museum membership before it expired, so it was off to explore at the Children's Museum this week.  It just so happened that the Hot Wheels exhibit just opened and I knew that Andrew would have no problem keeping himself busy.  He is still obsessed with any form of transportation.  Walking from the garage to the museum was quite the experience because he kept stopping to point out all of the cars.

Andrew said "airplane" with awe when we walked in.

He wouldn't look at the camera to take a picture because his eyes were trying to process the number of cars in front of him.

He kept calling this van a bus.

He didn't know what to think when he got on the motorcycle.  It seemed like a good idea...

He has never seen so many Hot Wheels Cars!

He got the hang of the ramps, but he would much rather play with the cars by themselves.

Telling daddy that he had a "car!"

Confusion when I told him it was a van.

He started to freak out because at the entrance/exit, there was a sound of a revving engine (very loudly) and he wouldn't walk through it.

Next, we were off to the next exhibit, "Lego Travel Adventures."  He just wanted to play with all of the cars.

I usually don't take him to too many of the exhibits in one visit because he usually doesn't have the patience for it, but he was still very interested in his moving vehicles that I told him we could go see a "choo choo" and he was more than willing.  At "All Aboard" he was able to see some model trains whizzing by on the tracks.

He was very unsure of crawling in and resisted when I tried to nudge him under, but he eventually came around.

I thought the full sized Rueben Wells engine would impress Andrew, but at that moment it started ringing its bell and making sounds, so he freaked out and wouldn't go near it.

Back to the model trains!

Brown County State Park

With all of this great weather, we thought we should take advantage of it before the real heat sets in.  Tuesday night we headed south to Brown County State Park.  We only stayed overnight, but it was still great to get out.

Dustin wants a family picture every time we go camping so we can make a scrapbook.

This was the first time I've had to worry about a fire with Andrew.  He had to learn very quickly not to stick his hand INTO the fire.  :)

The simple joys of a lantern.

Exploring.

Waiting patiently for mom to open the graham crackers.

S'more time!

Andrew opted to eat his deconstructed.

I tried to get him to eat a bite of a gooey s'more, but he refused.  Oh, well, I tried.

After a not-so-great night's sleep (for many reasons), we woke up early and headed to the Nature Center.

Andrew loves flowers...

...and started to pick them (like mommy does on our walks).

We had to stop him at 2.

Inside they had a colony of honey bees.  It was so cool!  There was an opening so they could go outside and pollinate the flowers in the bed and then return back.

My little man!

Andrew loves being twirled around until he gets dizzy.

Hiking to Stahl Lake.

You can't see this, but there are literally 150 steps down.  Not fun going back up.

This sign says 1/2 mile, but we were pretty sure it was longer...or maybe it just felt like it.

Loving his daddy.

West Tower.

Peeking out the window.

My two favorite guys!

The Old Fire Tower.

Initially, we were going to go up, but after trekking the 300 odd steps at the trail, we decided that we would take a picture from down below instead.  :)
